Since I’ve been visiting London this week my grandchildren here have been strong and persuasive advocates for my getting a puppy, and how I might bring him/her to my next visit. Grandchildren are very hard to refuse ;).
Thanks. I tend to pile it on so I’ll schedule any addition with care.
I’ll climb down the dream ladder I’m sure - I was aware Britain was (reasonably) restrictive rules governing dogs and will admit getting caught up in a puppy grandchild fantasy. Thanks for the sobering advice!
Getting a puppy is a major investment in time and energy Jane! Be forewarned, and make sure you schedule in a couple of months of down time, you'll need it. That's why I got her in June and will spend the summer with her in Somerset..
Also, there is sadly no way to fly a dog in and out of the UK. We used to drive our last dog down to Paris to get her to North America...
Your grandkids will have to come visit you. But it's definitely an added attraction.
There is so much bad news, I'm just taking it in micro doses I don't need a constant rehash. I was wondering when you would get another dog; not to replace, and you took time to grieve. What a joy to watch Poppy and see the world through his eyes.
I used to read The Times in depth, much of The Independent and The Guardian, and have Radio 4 on - Today; World at One, PM. It's now become too much, i'm happier listening to bird song x
Hello dear Avivah - I just wanted to say that your Sunday emails are a highlight of my day. So happy for you and your family and your new pup. Sending all my best.
I am printing the puppy photo and posting it next to my desk. Whew, I need that!
aww.... that is lovely Beth!
The printer went wild and I have a dozen, full-color, full-page photos. I'm smiling.
there's a message in there somewhere Beth. Cats have nine lives, but dogs with a dozen prints are a wink from the universe.

I don't need a constant rehash, but I sure appreciate deep, thoughtful informed analyses.
And the world does look a lot better through Tigger's eyes.
